Brett Smith

Owner & CEO

Brett founded Propeller Airports LLC, a wholly owned subsidiary of Propeller Investments, to leverage airport privatization in the U.S. Airport sector. Propeller Airports focuses on transforming airports and their operations through public-private partnerships with strategically placed airports around the country that offer unique opportunities to create new economic engines for their local communities. In 2019, Propeller opened the award-winning passenger terminal at Paine Field in Everett, Washington and served more than 1 million passengers in its first year of operations. Prior to Propeller, Brett co-founded and served as Chairman & CEO of ei3 Corporation and served as the Director of Business Development at Presstek, Inc. He has held positions in areas of business development and analysis with Asia Times newspaper and Susquehanna Investment Group. Brett has served on the boards of various organizations including The United Ways Children with Learning Disabilities Foundation, NY Board of Human Rights Watch and ICAD, a publicly traded company. He is also a licensed private pilot. Brett holds a B.A. in Political Science from Emory University.

Jodi Smith

Vice President

Jodi has over 20 years of experience in human resources, marketing, teaching and education administration. Having joined Propeller in March 2015, she brings her wide range of talents and experience to our company providing administrative support, people management and program management expertise. In March 2018, she assumed the role of Director of Human Resources. Previously, Jodi taught as a head teacher at a private day school in Manhattan, NY. In September 2022, Jodi assumed the role of Vice President at Propeller Aero Services.

Jodi is a graduate of Vanderbilt University, holding a Bachelor of Science degree in Human Resources and Human Development. After attaining her BS, Jodi earned a Master of Arts in Education at Boston University. Jodi is currently on the board of the Boys and Girls Clubs of Snohomish County.

Cameron McConnell

Director of Finance

Cameron joined Propeller in October of 2023 with more than 12 years of public and private sector experience. Prior to joining Propeller, Cameron led Corporate Mergers & Acquisitions with Refuel Operating LLC. In addition to this role, he oversaw the development program for all new stores added to the Refuel portfolio. His experience in corporate finance and business development is complemented by experience in both Capital Markets and Department of Defense.

Cameron graduated from the University of Georgia with a degree in Business Management. After earning his BA, he earned an MBA-Business Analytics from Clemson University.

Tom Hoctor

Operations Manager

Tom came to Propeller with more than 40 years of aviation operations experience, 15 of which were in aviation fuel management. Tom retired from the U.S. Navy as a Chief Warrant Officer 4 after 30 years of service. He went on to manage a Defense Logistics' Agency Fuel Contract overseeing the delivery, issuance, accounting, and maintenance for 3.1 million gallons. Tom joined the Propeller team in 2019 as a Terminal Duty Manager for the Passenger Terminal until he transitioned into his current role with Propeller Aero Services. Tom adds a wealth of knowledge to the PAS team in areas of fuel quality control, maintenance, and audits.
